Operation: Fireteam : Snow Valley (2024)

"Fall out! Stick to the plan!" barked Tiandi. I could feel the air becoming much colder as we exited our tunnel. It had taken a while, but we had managed to dig our way into the abandoned mine passageway, which then led us into the fenced off valley. As I sprinted to the hill directly in front of us, I felt a rush of adrenaline accompanied by a strong sense of well-being. This is why I joined S.G.A: to kill the bad guys. I worked for Singapore, and I was proud of it. My team was made up of people just like me, headstrong and determined to accomplish the mission ahead.

Here's what we knew: A Lockeland U-5 reconnaissance aircraft had discovered a hostile missile base, in a disputed region between borders. The enemy was preparing the launch of a nuclear warhead at a neighboring nation. The plan was simple: Eliminate any enemy forces found withing the complex and recover the missile. -090310 wasn't gonna blow up innocent people on our watch, and that was a promise I was planning to keep.

As we scaled the hill and set up a perimeter, me taking the high ground as our designated marksman, we saw our plane. She was desperately trying to avoid the missiles in hot pursuit of it, releasing every flare she had. One missile banked off and exploded in the mountains, but as the plane passed over us the other missile caught up with her. The explosion shook the ground for miles as the plane screamed into a gulley outside the valley. So much for our tactical insertion.

When I got to the top of the hill and started loading sand bags with snow, I froze when I saw the warhead. It was by far the largest missile I had ever seen, and as far as we knew it was armed and ready. If that thing was cut loose, the world would soon be mourning thousands. We couldn't fail.

As I watched -Innocent, MKtan, Skipper, Tiandi, -Airlang, -Imbalanced, and Evangelize begin to infiltrate the valley, I loaded my M200, my weapon of choice. I'd trained with it ever since I learned that it has the longest range of any sniper rifle in the world, not to mention better accuracy, portability and stopping power than any .50 cal. As Tiandi and -Airlang blew away a door that led underground, I had a feeling they knew what they were doing. In fact, I wouldn't trade anyone in our squad. We had it made because our guys were the best in the international community. These guys didn't stand a chance, no matter what their numbers were. Or so we thought.

"evenglize, you got eyes?" asked evenglize into my skype, and I quickly confirmed that I was up and running. I readied my CheyTac and scoped in on Evanglize, ready to cover her. The plan was that we catch them off guard, and by the time they came out of their tents they'd be fragged. Tiandi and -Airlang had the courtesy of deploying a turret at the base of the hill and a Hornet at the front of the door they had taken. If anyone was gonna try to sneak up my hill, they'd be dead before they got within 30 yards.

That's when the firing started. Off in the distance, tiny pops, but plenty of them. -Imbalanced crackled into the mic and said he was getting pushed back. I guess there were of them than we thought. The firing started getting closer, and I could start to see muzzle flashes and the occasional frag explosion.

Skipper was on the mic. "-innocent, got some coordinates for you, too far to see cuz of fog. 47, 52, 27, 47." I checked my map, scoped into the endless fog, and sent a .408 downrange at 3,000 feet per second. "Beautiful," whispered Skipper. I later learned that a enemy was camped out on the ladder of a small red tower in their base. Basically, I shot the distance of the valley.

"I can't hold ‘em! Goin back to Alpha hill, cover me! evngelize was sprinting back down the incline, with three tangos in hot pursuit. She jumped behind the small protection the hill gave, and crawled behind the tree on top with her Valkyrie at the ready. I zoomed in on the oncoming enemy, and let off another .408. He flew back onto the snow, twitched, and stopped moving, while his two buddies started setting up in the trench under an enormous red pipe. They were protected by snow and a stout stone wall, which Mei's puny 5.56x45 couldn't penetrate. I asked her if she had a frag handy, but she's used them up to good use already. I smiled, and whispered into the mic, "Leave them to me, stand by." They'd set up a machine gun, an RPK, and were firing blindly onto Evngelize's hill. A few strays hit her tree, so I focused on his flash and held my breath until I was ready. I made short work of the gunner, and while I was working the bolt Evngelize warned that the third was readying an RPG. When he popped his head up to fire on her position at the tree, I popped his head like a grape, and Evnglize quickly took a position on the visible side of the sandbags.

"I'll take it from here." I copied that and scanned for more targets. The firefights were coming closer; we were still getting pushed back. Our guys had spread over the whole valley, leaving no area open to flanking. The two specs were still underground, as far as I knew, and we currently had zero casualties. As I was looking for movement, the bag to my right was literally blown to bits. I backed down the hill about five paces and traced the muzzle flash, which had come from the top of the colossal tower overlooking the warhead. He was nowhere in sight, and I assumed he was probably crouched at the back of the platform. I wasn't gonna hit him with this kind of wind and temp; if only he was a little more visible.... I checked -Imbalanced's position, and saw he was right next to the giant rock that's almost parallel with the tower. I decided to call for an airstike.

"MKtan! I'm takin fire, can you place a MiG-21 on top of the tower?" Skipper had a Designator with him.

"Sure thing, mate." He stood on top of the broken house's roof and whipped out the strange-looking device. Once locked on, he winked at me and darted into the tunnel about 30 yards in front of him, and was gone. In about 10 seconds, I heard the MiG flying overhead. I looked up just in time to see it dump the motherload right smack on top of the tower, setting it ablaze with napalm. Yep, there he was, frantically running around trying to put out the fire consuming him. I chuckled as he accidentally fell over the edge and plummeted to his death. I wondered if he was already dead before he hit the ground....

The battle went on for another half hour or so. Everyone was pretty much camped out, and we were gaining ground little by little. I'd used up exactly 3 mags by now, for a total of 21 kills. As I was loading in another 7-rounder, when I heard a tremendous explosion below me. Quickly, I darted up for a split second and checked the door. As I had suspected, the Hornet had made short work of the enemy. I still had a turret.

Across from me, right in front of the large silo for the missile, someone was started taking potshots at me with his Kalashnikov. He was actually balancing on the wall-protected ladder to the right of the giant hole, and I was trying to time his pop when Tiandi hopped the rail behind the enormous silo door. He gave me the shush sign, and winked. I waited sliiently. Slowly, he snuck up to the ladder, took out his tomahawk, and a significant amount of blood spurted out from the enemy hiding spot.

"Headshot," he whispered. Before I could comment on his douchebag move, I heard my turret light up the house in front of me. Quickly I darted down my mountain and whipped out my Heartbeat Detector. Sure enough, two orange dots were trying to hide in the house, and taking shots at the turret. I heard a bloodcurdling scream, and one of the dots disappeared. One down. But something was wrong; my turret wasn't firing, and the second dot was advancing toward my hill. As I realized he must have destroyed the multi-million dollar robot, a high-explosive frag flew over my sandbags and landed at my feet, panicked, I turned around and jumped into the square hole in the roof of the broken down house at the base of my hill. The frag deafened me with the explosion, and I realized why they call them HE.

I pulled out my sidearm and exited the house via doorway, slowly making my way back up the hill. Near the top, the "orange dot" was confusedly looking at my snowbags, trying to determine where I had gone. When he turned around, I Deagled him in the chest. Now, the hole that a .50 Action Express makes is approximately the size of a human head. He easily cleared the bags and fell 20 feet to the snow below. I know, not exactly the most practical sidearm, but something about the cartridge being the size of my thumb intrigued me and made me feel safe. I also love that golden tiger stripe design; top-notch gun porn. Besides, I didn't wanna wield no RedFlag 9 mil or .45, I guess it's just a testosterone thing.

When I reached the top of the hill, the valley was literally crawling with Russians. Adrenaline rushed to every cell in my body, and I scoped in. To my utter surprise, I picked off about six or seven of them once I'd gotten back into position, all in probably under 30 seconds. Now that I look back on it, one could call it unbelievable. Operation: Fireteam : Snow Valley (1) It's harder than it looks.

Because my defenses were used up, my sandbags ruined, my position no longer a secret, and my impatient lust for more blood, I decided to move up a bit. I took out my CheyTac, descended the hill and began sprinting to the giant rock that -Imbalance had called the strike from. As I made it to the snowy house at the base of the rock, another Russian came out of the tunnel in front of me. Instinctively I scoped in on him and fired my rifle, but not before he managed to spray me in the shoulder and thigh with an PP-19. Despite the pain, my shot wasn't thrown off too bad, and I actually managed to hit him. As he clutched his one eyed trouser snake and rolled around in the snow, -Innocent crackled onto the mic and shouted between breaths that MKTan had been killed. Things weren't looking good; we hadn't lost a soldier in battle since Operation: Waverider, almost 2 months ago.

"FALL BACK! S.G.A, FALL BACK!" Screamed Tiandi on the headset. "We gotta get the hell out of here." I looked at the missile, but I still couldn't tell whether it was operational or not. I limped back to my hill and into the tunnel behind the house that we had come from. When all 7 of us had regrouped, SKIPPER and Tiandi had smiles on their faces. "We were able to successfully prevent the launch and detonate the control room," said Tiandi.

"That's why we ordered a retreat. I checked our satellite scanner, and there were hundreds more on the way, not to mention a few tanks." There were too many of them, and we'd accomplished our mission," explained Viper, as she gave me a shot of something for my wounds. Most of us were pretty pissed that we had to retreat. Even with a couple 9 mils in me, I could have killed more, as crazy as that sounds. They ain't that big. Ain't the first time I've been shot.

"If we'd stayed, we would've ended up just like MKtan," reminded Evngelize. "There must have been over a hundred of ‘em in the base, not to mention the reinforcements that showed up when we were leaving." We left it at that. We still had to retrace our steps to get out of the tunnel, where a chopper was coming to pick us up. Later, as we waited for another assignment, intelligence intercepted the Enemy body count from Operation: Snow Valley. It was exactly 140.

I hope that MKtan knew that he hadn't died for nothing. he'd been defending the specs while they were detonating the control room, which means that she probably saved the lives of thousands, maybe tens of thousands of innocent people that day. he was a true war hero, fighting till the last breath he took. If I ever have kids, I'll tell them about him, and what a brave warrior he was, along with the rest of my team. We're the best of the best,

I Love My Clan.
